And I hear the Fitbit version is legitimately better and will last a LOT longer. I mean, if a cheap black stainless Amazon band starts chipping off, the magnets get weak, or it just breaks or something. I don't think I'll find "a perfect fit" until I get a magnetic stainless steel band on Amazon for a LOT LESS than Fitbit's option (my GOD is that thing pricey). I always sleep on either side, never on my back or front.Īnd I wear the Versa on my "non dominant" left wrist. I don't change anything as far as the fit or placement. I don't care if it's not 100 percent accurate, it's probably pretty damn close. It IS REALLY nice to check the app in the morning, which basically confirms what I already kind of know. Hell, one night I didn't even sleep enough for it to really track. The nights DO track (Pretty well I think as well. Just seems like an odd bug, and someone else said theirs does it as well (using a Pixel 2 XL for reference) but it usually will go back to normal and that was actually true. If I say, select a night and then go back, it'll add duplicates of nights already tracked. Or as well as a fitbit can because it isn't a medical device which they make clear). I haven't had any issues with sleep tracking or monitoring HR (I even had a panic attack with it on and it tracked it perfectly. I haven't seen this offered as a solution anywhere on the Fitbit forums so far which is baffling, mostly people are getting the standard canned responses of wearing it tighter/looser, resetting, cleaning it etc. Lo and behold, I was able to get sleep stage tracking. On a whim, I decided to turn my Versa around so that the pulse tracker was against my (entirely hairless) inside of my wrist. I've had consistent heart rate tracking since getting the Versa, so my arm hair isn't interfering it in that regard. Also I'm no hairier than when I first got the Versa, so why it worked for the first week and a half is beyond me. For the record, I'm not an especially hairy guy but I'd say I have more than an average amount of arm hair. I had read that tattoos can interfere with the heart rate monitor- I don't have any on my wrist, but I wondered if perhaps arm hair could be causing an issue. My wife had been wearing hers to bed the same way she wears it all day in fact, she wears it loose enough that she could easily fit a finger underneath the strap. As I said before, I had tried wearing it both looser and tighter, further up my arm and on the opposite wrist. This confirmed that both my Versa and my app were working fine, but that something was wrong with how I was wearing it. She was able to get sleep stage tracking with my Versa but I didn't with hers. We swapped back the pairing and physically swapped and wore each others watches to bed. My Versa still produced no sleep stage tracking while hers did. I decided to conduct a little experiment: my wife and I paired our Versas to the other's phone. This led me to believe that something was buggy with my app (I have a Nexus 6P, my wife has an S8 so it's a bit newer). I returned my Versa and got a new one, still no dice. I scoured the Fitbit forums looking for any clue as to what I could do, and I had tried everything: wearing it looser, wearing it tighter, wearing it further up my arm, wearing it on the opposite wrist. My wife's has worked fine the entire time she's had her Versa so far. For the first week and a half, my sleep tracking worked perfectly, and then it stopped working. A little backstory: my wife and I both got our Versas a couple of days before the official release day.
